Date WEEKEND in NYC

We had a big event last week... I turned THIRTY!! And to celebrate, we headed to NYC for a long weekend of adulthood (the fun kind). P-fam Babysitters Club hung out at our house with Elizabeth (post to come), so we were free to do crazy things like stay out til 3am and sleep in til 10am, both of which we actually did! It really was like the whole weekend was a date or series of dates, and it was wonderful. Of course, no Elizabeth with us meant very few pics. There are a few, but mostly you'll have to deal with my words instead.

Some highlights:

Friday night - dinner at a nice Indian restaurant near our Midtown restaurant (outside our usual norm, delish), out to two bars til 3am (really)!

Saturday - slightly hungover but tasty brunch in Greenwich Village, walked/shopped through Soho all the way down to Ground Zero, where we most impressed/touched by a very old but small chapel right by Ground Zero which is almost serving as a memorial. Mike must have been in city mode because he seemed to be enjoying the shopping! And we both got snazzy new get ups for Saturday night. Sadly no pics of this. But we had a fantastic dinner at Primehouse where we were treated like VIPs for being friend of a friend of sommelier. Then headed to a fancy schmancy lounge with lovely views of Empire State Building (and an even lovelier roof deck, complete with complimentary red hoodie/snuggie things and heat lamps, neither of which were a match for the 50 mph winds).

Sunday - full tour of Manhattan with Mike's mom's cousin and boyfriend, who were nice enough to pick us up from New Jersey, drive us all around with commentary, take us to lunch and to visit Mike's Great Aunt Jane, then deposit us safely back at our hotel. Then a pre-theater dinner, Billy Elliott (amazing little kid actor), and a great jazz show.

Monday - skating and walking in Central Park, drinks at the Plaza Hotel, walking down 5th Avenue through St Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center, linner, and off to the airport.

We packed a lot in, but it still managed to be relaxing. What a great weekend and great husband! (And great family for helping with Ebes.)

Drinks at the Plaza. Mike's quote: "I feel rich in my cardigan."
